In Dixon's Campground I happened to camp next to this 1950 Restored Spartan "Grand Mansion" Travel Trailer Built by Spartan Aircraft Co, Tulsa, OK. Trigger, the owner of this old beauty, was kind enough to give us all a tour of this magnificent trailer. Stepping inside was like a trip back into the past. Click HERE to see more. | |

On my wanderings in Maine,
mainely, Wells Harbor, I came across a Chili-Fest. For five clams they
gave you a sampling kit consisting of a spoon, cups, and a voter ticket
for you to vote on the best chili. I was feeling a bit peckish so I forked
over my 5 bux and indulged. I figured since I needed a lunch and love
chili that this would be the ticket for me. I wandered about in a circle
of booths where the chefs were ladling out their chili creations. The results: The first booth I sampled was great, but to my surprise there were some samplings I made that the minute I put the spoon to my mouth I headed for the garbage can. There were even some that caused an instant gagging reflex. I wondered what could be in these chef's head that made them think that this stuff was good. Anyway, I kept heading back to my favorite booth to get yet another sample, each time I did I realized the different dimensions of this chili. First, there were no beans, second, there was tiny cubed meat, not ground beef, thirdly, there was the perfect seasoning, giving a slight kick, but giving a deep chili flavor. Conclusion: Money well spent. I enjoyed it and I got to mingle with the folks. It was a nice lunch too. |
