Travels in the Catskills by Phil D
UPDATE: The Schmid family attended "Buses by the Buoy '06".  Unfortunately, we were camped  at different ends of the campground and I didn't know they were there until I saw them leaving.
On a weekend in August I was staying at the Kenneth L Wilson State campsite near Woostock NY. And what to my wandering eyes should appear but a total of three Westies laid out with camping gear. Yep, that weekend 3 Westies camped at the park with no previous knowledge of each other being there. Unfortunately I missed talking to the folks in their red late 80's model Westy, perhaps even a syncro. We both stuck our heads out the windows as we passed one another. I think I knew that person but the moment was so brief I couldn't be sure. However, I did get a chance to meet the Schmid Family, owners of a '82 Diesel Westy. As natural as ants at a picnic, we fell into conversation. It seems that the Schmid family had recently attended their first LiMBO campout in Connecticut at "Buses by the Bridges". They said they loved the campground, the VW folks, and the tubing and rafting at the event. They also made a contact at "Buses by the Bridges" and were on their way to pick up another diesel Westy that they purchased.

Martin converted his Westy to a bio-diesel. He still has the original diesel tank but added this bio-diesel tank under the rear seat. I didn't know this but the mechanism on the far right is a bio-fuel heater. In other words, the bio-fuel has to be heated up before being sent to the engine to burn.
