I've been real happy with three motors that Boston Bob has built for me over the years:

1) 1600cc dual port in '74 bug, sold car with engine still running strong years ago.
2) 2000cc Type IV motor in my '81 Westy, have over 50K miles on it and still going strong
3) 1600cc dual port in '65 bus, installed last summer, have about 5k miles on it and it cruises the highway at 65-70 mph with stock transmission and reduction boxes. I took it on an 800 mile trip down to NJ this summer and don't recall ever even opening the engine compartment lid. It uses no oil, doesn't leak and runs real well. I did the install myself.

I would definitely buy a motor from Bob again. Of course it also helps that he lives in the same town as me, so delivery charges are not an issue.

He'll probably recommend a counter-weighted crank for a bus motor. I went with that route for mine for increased longevity. It adds about $200 to the price. You may also want to consider a new clutch kit and maybe a new exhaust, if the old one is rusty.

-Stan
