Something new has been added to West River Westies this year. On Thursday and Friday nights we will be showing Volkswagen and Bus related movies on the "Big Screen". (Really not that big!) The following four movies will be shown for your enjoyment.

"The Visual History of Cars--VOLKSWAGEN"
Complete coverage of VOLKSWAGEN History. Financed by Adolf Hitler, "the people's car" was designed to sell for under 1000 marks or $400 in the early '30s. Volkswagens have been produced in 16 countries worldwide and is a study in small car realiability and streamlined design. 1989, 30 minutes, color/BW, Rated G.

"LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE"
When Olive Hoover is invited to compete in the "Little Miss Sunshine" pagent in far off California, the Hoover family piles into their rusted out VW bus to rally behind her---with riotously funny results. 2006, 103 minutes, color, Rated R.

"THE BUS"
This is a remarkable story of a vehicle that became an icon. "The Bus" playfully explores how a post-WWII German utility vehicle evolved into a cultural icon. Beginning in Germany with the vehicles creation, into a wild ride that changes the world forever, "The Bus" is an adventure from beginning to end. From Wolfsburg to Hollywood, Burning Man to Baja, people of all walks of life share their stories and passion in "The Bus"   2012, 63 minutes, color, Rated PG.

"BASS ACKWARDS"
When Linas Phillips gets kicked off his friends couch and spurned by his lover, he finds a forgotten VW van on a llama farm outside Seattle, where he begins lurching east with nothing to lose. The dented, off-kilter vehicle, which valiantly endures the journey, becomes a colorful metaphor for the human condition of tenacity and hopefullness and always tinged with imperfection. This original, lyrical and visually exciting adventure has such a light touch that it quietly sneaks up and puts you into an overpowering appreciation of being human.  2010, 103 minutes, color, Rated PG-13.
