Easter at Nachaug '08
« on: March 23, 2008, 09:30:42 AM »
This weekend a group of notorious Bus Campers, aka "The Hole in the Woods Gang", gathered on the banks of the Nachaug River for their annual Easter Campout.

There were 7 Buses with a total of 15 people and 4 canine campers plus 4 or 6 visitors. They came from Connecticut, Massachuetts, Rhode Island and New York and braved winds that gusted to 50mph at times and temperatures falling below freezing at night. The food as usual was superb starting out at the Happy Hour with a Sushi ( aka Suchi with Wasabi, that green Japanese horseradish sauce! ) platter and Shrimp followed by homemade clam chowder and clam cakes. Breakfast the next day started early with orange juice, pineapple slices, toasted English Muffin bread, Porteguese bread and of course camp coffee. Later came the big breakfast-----sausages, bacon, scrambled and fried eggs, home fries, sliced cantelope and more coffee. This was prepared under the watchful eye of the new "Hole in the Woods Gang's" mascot----"Soupy Con Kid" who says "that no one ever goes hungry at this campout and you can't get better eats like this anywhere in the world than right here". See all the action in the Photo Album of this X-treme Campout.
