LiMBO Annual Meeting Stuff Wanted?

Yea man, I'll second that. It's now been 8 days since the meeting in Northborough and "nicht", zilch, blank, emptiness, zero, etc.! How 'bout someone letting all of us in on what went on? I just might pass on while waiting for the official minutes of the meeting to be published in the March/April Transporter.

We sold the club to a small investment group after they noticed Bay window and Vanagon campers showing up in catalogs for higher end clothing and outdoor gear.

Prior to that we made mention of the word "Gno*e* illegal and cross merged with the Aztek Owners group so passersby at camp outs would no longer mention how ugly a Vanagon looks (we now look sharp by comparison!).

A new T-Shirt was made that showed a Westy at a camp-out with someone with a frothy mug in a camp chair with the slogan underneath
"The drinking will continue until the the Economy improves"

Nice report Vanagon Jr on just what happened at the LiMBO Annual Meeting in Northborough on January 18th.

But, to be honest, myself and other LiMBO members don't believe a word of your report which amounts to just a bunch palavering, dis-connected words.

What we really want is the truth as to just what happened and came out of that meeting? I and others don't really feel like cooling our heels waiting for the official transcript of minutes to be published in the next Transporter due out in late March!

BTW: "Gno*e's", old as they may seem and illegal or not are still able to kick a few asses!

Ok here's what I remember,
New president -John from New Jersey sorry get last name later
No merger with Neato at this time but cooperation

Talked about Neato page in newsletter perhaps.
Usual talk about Internet only vw newsletter staying as is for now

Want to decrease limbo part rep listings in every newsletter issue but do need more content to fill the void.

New president john to contact area reps any try and get more nation wide involvement

Dinner's ready to be continued

Ok the home made soup was good and the home made cheese. Thanks for asking.

Other topic raised was need for insurance or not. See main page for Phil's ramblings on this subject. Indeed Westys in the Woods and Rites of Spring were cited. Agreed to look into insurance for club as well as 1 day insurance.

Other officers stay as is I believe. I made a motion that I be fired as ad coordinator. But that was turned down. That's all remember besides the 2 1/2 he drive there (1 hrs longer than normal).

Note any of the above is unofficial as my memory isn't what ... What was I saying ?

With the snow that day, the turn out was low.  I was in favor of having an abbreviated meeting and convene a full meeting later in the spring when the weather was better. To be fair to those who showed up,  It turned into a full meeting and here is what I remember and what I recently told Andrea about the newsletter and NEATO merger.

At this time, there is no plans to add anything NEATO related to the newsletter.  In the event NEATO stops being NEATO, it will be offered to NEATO members a half price LiMBO membership for the first year, AND THEN we'll start having a NEATO/Split bus related page and content.

Newsletter wise, Nothing is going to change for the short term.

We do want to reduce the LiMBO-mart size.  Even eliminate some items. I think getting rid of the photos and just mentioning in the ad that all items can be viewed on the website should be fine.

We talked about finances, which is doing just fine. We have about 10K in the LiMBO account.

It was brought up to eliminate the area reps or get them to become more active, Jon Kleckner- Our new President- said he was contact them.  It was decided to keep them in the newsletter.

**Not Meeting related but Andrea touched on these in a recent eMail:
She wanted to delete the 'Swap Area' of the newsletter.

My response:
I think we should just keep the 'Swap Area' the way it is. We still want people to submit items, but with the internet, it doesn't happen too often.  But we still want people to know its an option.

Andrea wanted to get a membership list so she could solicit submissions from members because submissions are low.

 My response...
Member submissions have been and always will be an issue for this or
any small club.  Even in the best of times, submissions were less than
stellar.  You print whatever you feel is appropriate and we'll be
happy with that. If you have to use old tricks like large fonts and
larger photos, so be it. It just an inconvenience of being editor.
You're doing a fine job, do worry too much about it. Considering we
only have about 475 paying members (internet and traditional) its
amazing you can get enough to fill one issue, let alone six a year.

I'm not sure its a good idea soliciting members for content. I'm sure
if they wanted to submit, they would.  Jerry, Joel and occasionally
Bill Dummitt would send something in, I like the recipe's from Rich, I
might even try one or two. Most people are intimidated by writing.
They're afraid of looking stupid, believe me, you won't look stupid to
this group.  I've been doing it for years.
