Looks like these guys really know how to put on a Winter Campout. "Treffen" - Translates: Meeting, gathering etc. Check out some of their VW Wohnmobils.

Don't know where this took place, but take note of the predominance of the Hi-rise fiberglass tops as opposed to one or two canvas Poptops. Are we missing something here in the US?

I like the hard top campers. Before buying my Westy, I nearly got one myself. It was just a little too rough a condition. I like the fact you can sleep in it without calling attention to the fact your camping. Good feature for a quick overnight on the street side.

I like the sliding door that go into the hi=top. No stooping going in the van - nice.  I still like pop-tops, lighter, and lower center of gravity, but I do get hi-top envy, especially for the storage over the driver's compartment.

Would be nice for an extended trip.

Here is a high top that gets my attention. It does not have the high door, but having a diesel makes it pretty cool! Could use a couple of windows in the top.

Hi Red Baron.

BTW, I chose high fiverglass top.
Very easy to get good insulation.
No leaks during the last 22 years of common life !
You can sleep in the top without attacting attention.
Very sensitive to high winds.

We are thinking of hitting Yellowstone and other National Parks this year. I know there are restrictions with food, and tents or soft side campers because of Bears. The permanent high top sounds attractive in Bear country.
