Westies In The Woods Stokes Forest NJ May 25-28

Howdy,

I know this is extremely short notice and for that I appologise but here is the deal........

Westies In The Woods has been going on for the past 4 years and I (Kevin Joyce) have been running it. Unfortunatly 5 years ago the park came up with new rules and the amout of vehicles allowed at each group site has been limited. At that time there was a bunch of complaining from VW members about the new Park Rules.

At the end of that fateful weekend 5 years ago I thought to myself, how much I enjoyed coming to Stokes, as it was so close to home. How nice the field was to camp in, and how fairly clean the showers and toilets usually were. So I asked a bunch of people that were there that fateful weekend, if I took it over, would anyone still come.

Enough people said yes for me to keep the tradition going. This year will be the 21st continuous year.

The first year I took it over it filled up with all the regulars without me having to get any word out.

The previous 2 years it would have also filled up, if the people that promised me that they were coming, actually showed up. Having saved a valuable spot for them, only to have them not show up and allow someone else to enjoy it, has forced me to run this limited space event as a first come first serve.....or in other words the people that pay me first are the ones that come.

I don't care who those people are........and I dont pick and chose who is in or not. You pay me......I still have a spot left.....your in.

In prior years I keep it on the down low as far as LIMBO was concerned as I was aware that Jon Kleckner had his campout, I cant remember where, but I know it was the same weekend, not far away. So not wanting to step on his toes, although I advertised it on other websites I never mentioned it here.

Well...low and behold....I received word just this past week that Jon wants to come to my campout.......so I checked this sites event page....and see his is not listed.

So thats the long version.

Here is the short version.

Westies In the Woods is still going on in Stokes Forest New Jersey.
It is the weekend of  the 25th to the 28th.
It is a LIMITED SPACE (Not my rules...The Parks Rules) event.
As of today 5-15-12 I have 5 spots left.
It is $15 for the whole weekend.
I need payment by the 18th.
I take Paypal.
I will need the names of the people in your party attending and the license plate number of the vehicle they are coming in (not my rules....Parks rules)
Saturday night is Pot Luck Dinner.
Sunday Morning is Waffles for everyong cooked by Ed.

I have taken it upon myself to keep this tradition going as best I can, and was just letting LIMBO members now know about it, as like I mentioned, I do not see Jon's event listed anymore, as he'll be enjoying the weekend at mine.

Sorry for any spelling errors that may have occured above.

Thanks Much
Kevin

Our campout here in West Milford is not going to be held this year due to Kevins effort in keeping Westys in the Woods as an ongoing event.  Thanks, Kevin!.  I sent in my reservation and hope to come.  I thought it had been 20 yrs. since the first event there, as some 'baby' campers then are now grown up adults.   Several of us visited from West Milford during our last event which was held at both places.  The restrictions of Stokes, first held by Ron Maxon, then by Tim Demarest, which is a state park, led to a need to find another place to acomodate other campers here.  Bill Messmer had convinced the town to use the KOA campground [owned by the town] for a minimal charge without many rules put upon us.  If there is a need to hold another here again, it will be done.  There are not many events in LiMBO which have lasted as long as Westys!
