Just VeeDubs Out of Tempe AZ beware
« on: February 09, 2006, 01:38:45 AM »
[ >:(
I am going to list my expereinces with Just VEEDUBS out of Tempe, AZ

1) ordered "econo" longblock for my 82 Westy, $1295+shipping
2) Engine took over 3 months to get here
3) engine arrived MINUS flywheel, distributor drive, rockers pushrods. (We DID discuss my using my old rockers and pushrods but I was led to believe that the distributor drive and flywheel WOULD be installed)
4) Engine cases had cobwebs and an old GEX sticker on them, should've been my first hint. I know cosmetics don't affect how an engine will run but it DOES say something about the re-builder and hey...at LEAST scrape off hthe crumbling GEX sticker before you ship the thing!
5) The cases and pushrod tubes were sealed with black RTV sealant and OLD O-rings were used on the pushrod tubes.
6) once oil was put into the engine it leaked from the center cover, I removed the cover and found that 1)there was NO screen and 2)the OLD gaskets had been used on the cover plate.
7) after having run the engine for 10 minutes I dropped the oil and filter and found bits of SHOP RAG on the filter.
8) once it was fired up it began to leak COPIOUS amounts of oil from the puhsrod seals. I STILL haven't been able to get the valve covers to seal and I've tried EVERYTHING!
Now, I've done a LOT of mechanical work over the years and I really should have known better than to install this thing in the first place.
To his credit Jose with JustVeeDubs DID offer to take the engine back when I initially expressed my concerns.
BUT....Silly me, I took that as a sign that I had a good engineand procedded to install it.
Since then I have contacted Jose with JustVeeDubs sevreal times and been told that since the engine has been installed I now have a "warranty" issue and would I like to be reimbursed for chasing the oil leaks!
The shop rag floating in the crankcase was totaly minimized. Now I don't know about anyone else but I would be more than a little concerned about a shop rag in the crankcase.
I am taking thi$ a$ a VERY expen$ive lesson and have since ordered an engine from Boston Bob
I'm sure the guys at JustVeeDubs have a totally different take on the situation but I am NOT HAPPY with the engine or the customer service I've recieved from JustVeeDubs

BUYER BEWARE!
