84 Westy Starting Problems
« on: September 21, 2007, 04:50:08 PM »
So, Here's an interesting tidbit. I been having problems starting my Westy. I got gas but no spark. I know from experience the first thing you do is check the grounds, especially on the starter. I did. I polished them to a nice gleam.  It seemed a little better, but I was wrong. It didn't start today.

Hmm, I pulled the wire from the dynamo (ignition coil) off the distributor cap. Part of the wire was left inside. It was burnt. I clipped the end off, attached the metal clip, cleaned out the hole the wire goes into and viola! The westy is back to starting on the first crank.

How about that!  :D

Buy a new set of wires, if the coil wire went bad the spark plug wires aren,t far behind. the Con Kid
