Photo's of Buses by the Mill '06
Buses by the Mill got off to an early start on Thursday with the arrival of a couple of those "BCGs", aka as "Bad Camping Guys". They apparently came early to plot attacks on the "GCGs" , aka "Good Camping Guys" and had armed themselves with all sorts of evil verbal abuse weapons. But alas, they were greatly out numbered by the GCGs forces under the leadership of the "Great Garden Gnome" and by Monday morning they were in total disarray, confused and retreating to there lairs in the far north and other unknown underground parts.

Friday with bright clear skies, the rest of the GCGs started arriving and by Saturday afternoon it looked like a full complement of 21 buses were encamped around the Mill. As usually, no one ever goes hungry at Buses by the Mill and if they do, it's their own fault. Saturday morning after a gourmet breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, toast, juice and coffee the Volksfolks started out to do their own thing------some went to the Foxwoods Casino, to the Submarine Base at Groton to tour the nations first nuclear powered submarine Nautilus while others braved a swim at Misquamicut State Park or just toured the coastline from Mystic to Westerly. At around noontime, one could see high billowy clouds-----a good indication of a pending storm.
It did materialize in mid afternoon to what is known as a "Mystic Monsoon", drenching BbtM with a good inch of water in some 20 minutes. It came quick and was over just as fast and all survived with no hands lost overboard.

Sunday came early with another bright, sunny and hot day and the BbtM Volksfolks started coming alive again. There was much looking at the vans and buses, discussing new things added and old things discarded and what's going on in the Vunderfull Vorld of Volkswagen Vans.
Late in the afternoon as the sun started to descend and it became a little cooler, it looked as if a truce was declared between the BCG's and the GCG's when the Happy Hour started before the Potluck Supper. Then came the "Armistice Banquet". Grilled chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, kielbasa. Salads of every type, baked beans, spaghetti and meatballs and many more elegant dishes. All this followed by supreme desserts and a fun raffle.

With the BbtM Volksfolks came a variety of Volkspets with names like Buddy, Summer, Sampson, Tempo, Podger, Garlic, Leroy, Nellie, Leila, Chili, Jetta and Abby. Also a good variety of young Volksters from about a year to sixteen. You figure out who was what, but they were all on the side of the GCG's. Really Good Troopers, all of'em.

Monday morning found the BCG's, with their walking wounded, packing up their tents and led off by Admiral Converse Greensneakers. The Great Garden Gnome also retreated to his War Room to plan the offensive for the next probably attack by the BCG's.

If you missed this one, you missed a great one and there's still more to come. Three LiMBO cheers for Amy and Bill Monk!
